We were so thrilled to see New Forest Eden, now owned by the amazing Valais Blacknose Sheep Snowdonia, do so well at the fantastic annual Valais Blacknose Sheep Society Blacknose Beauties show last weekend... Eden came 5th in her class of 18 shearling ewes, dropping only one point off scoring the coveted maximum points. We take so much pleasure seeing our sheep go on to thrive and do so well with their new owners - and none are more deserving of their success than Snowdonia. Huge congrats again guys on all your success at the show! 👏👏🏆

Whilst for a lot of our readership snow is a common occurrence - indeed, for the Valais Blacknose sheep it's a familiar sight in their native Switzerland - here in the New Forest in Southern England snow is a rarity. In fact, we haven't had so much as a flutter of snow for at least 5 years, so it was exciting when it arrived and the sheep seemed to take it in their stride. The upside for them was an extra dose of hay and sheep nuts whilst they couldn't access grass so they were happy!
We started the New Year as we mean to go on with some beautiful lambs born! We've had an amazing 50% twins vs. singles so far which is the highest proportion we've ever had and unusual for the breed. Here are the first lambs of 2018, Ram lambs Frank and Frodo: And here's one of the (extremely cute) January single lambs, Ram lamb Felipe: The sire this time is our award winning Ram, Remus, who throws the most fantastically marked lambs. Remus, is celebrating being a father again by being back in the tupping paddock with some more ladies....... We have lambs available to reserve now, so do get in touch if 2018 is the year to start - or add...
